    Dealer Notes

Pennington Auto Performance and Pennington Ford are excited to bring you this 1 of a kind 2020 Ford Mustang GT featuring a set of GMR 3-Piece Wheels, Pedders Adjustable Coilover suspension, and Nitto Performance Tires. The goal for this build was to take a GT Mustang, and without modifying the powertrain, make it as track worthy as a GT350, or do I dare even say, the GT500. Why you ask? Well, the base MSRP of the GT350 is $60,000, and the GT500, is a whopping $72,000. With a price like that, it is easy to understand why we would build a car like this. Not everyone who wants a hot rod can afford to buy the Ford Factory Supercars. By the way, this is probably a good time to mention that both the GT350 and GT500 are limited production models that can fetch upwards of $35,000 over those sticker prices in the right market. So… Now that your hopes of owning a GT350 and GT500 in the next 6 years have been brought into perspective, let’s talk about why we have done the things we have done in order to give this 2020 S550 Mustang an advantage over the Ford Factory GT Package. 2020 Ford Mustang (S550) GT Coupe Factory Equipment: Engine: 5.0L Coyote V8 Transmission: 10-Spd Automatic Exterior: Black Interior: Black Wheels – The stock 18” Cast wheels are good looking, and they serve their purpose, however, they are heavy and lack the added width, and offset to give a sports car an aggressive stance. Aesthetically, this car looks great with the new wheels, but keep in mind, that the parts added to this Mustang are for more than making the car look better; we are attempting to level the playing field. Reducing the rotating mass in the drivetrain is one of the oldest tricks in the book when trying to free up power. How important is losing that extra weight? Race teams spend as much as $30,000 on super lightweight wheels made from all kinds of uncommon materials like carbon fiber, and advanced polymers. Now, its plain and simple, we aren’t about putting something that over the top on this Mustang. We did however get ahold of our friends on the west coast at VR Wheels. Brandon at VR Wheels is great to deal with, and he helped us to reduce our rotating mass significantly with an amazing looking set of GMR AS-1 Wheels. This 3 Piece wheel features a brushed face that has been clear coated to preserve the finish, mated to a polished barrel with stunning gold hardware, and they tie the whole car together with red anodized GMR center caps. Suspension - Adjustments all around! A set of Pedders eXtreme XA Plus Coilovers have replaced those factory shocks and springs on all 4 corners. This Pedders eXtreme XA Adjustable Coilover kit fitted to any vehicle provides exceptional ride and handling characteristics. With the ability to be able to raise or lower the car to suit your driving needs, and features like 30 Position Adjustable Dampening, and Factory Style Brackets, the eXtreme XA kit is a valuable component for the street tuner or weekend track day racer looking to take down some factory supercars. Tires - “If you cannot get traction, you are just spinning your wheels.” The tires on a vehicle can drastically change handling characteristics. It can be argued that they are the single most important piece of the puzzle when trying to gain traction and in turn, increase overall performance. For this S550 Mustang, there is no sacrifice in the grip department. Those 19” GMR Wheels are wrapped in a true performance street tire. Meet the Nitto NT-05. To get the most grip, you want the biggest contact patch possible. In order to outperform a car with more power, you need to maximize your corner speed. These sticky 305/35/19 (Rear) and 275/35/19 (Front) tires will surely level the playing field. Price: $46,017 This 2020 Ford Mustang GT is a Pennington Auto Performance masterpiece. • The 4th (and best) mustang I’ve owned.

By Dex on Monday, April 05, 2021

      5.0
2017 Mustang GT. I’ve owned a ‘99 V6, 2000 V6, and an ‘06 GT. I know you can’t compare the V6s to the V8s. Especially the older ones that I had, but this ‘17 even compared to my ‘06 GT is ridiculously overpowering. The 300hp to the 435hp and the rumble from the exhaust is incredible. Driving 55-65 mph in this thing just feels like a tiger pacing back and forth in a cage, waiting to break loose. Then you’ve got the interior that just embraces you with the bucket seats. It literally feels like the car is holding you. The electronic features are really nice too with all the information available on the gauge cluster and everything able to be controlled right from the steering wheel. I actually looked specifically for an automatic for the paddle shift feature. And once I drove it, I liked the idea of getting all of the pros from a manual and none of the cons, such as clutch delay or jerky shift motions. It’s a sexy looking car, don’t get me wrong, the only reason I give it 4 stars for styling is because I personally prefer the more retro body style of the ‘05-‘09 models and obviously the late ‘60s. And 4 stars for comfort because it does feel a little stiff when taking corners. That could be me still adjusting to it though, since I’ve only had it for 3 days. I 100% love this car though and wouldn’t trade it in for anything.
    • Best looking mustang ever designed

Beautifully designed exterior. The 2015-2017 is out of this world gorgeous. They recently updated the front unfortunately not so great looking anymore. I don’t feel like I’m driving in a mustang. Feels like I’m in a really expensive exotic car and I contanstly get asked questions or compliments. I’ve owned mine for 6 years now and it has been super reliable. I wish they would make a sunroof and probably the only con is not having car play or even having the option from Ford to get it. Other than that it’s perfect. I been thinking about what’s new or better and there just isn’t another car that looks as good as mine does. You get so much for such a good price. It also does a really well job of holding its value. I highly recommend I push this baby hard and I have had no issues.
    • As much fun as you can have with your clothes on.

My basis for comparison: In 2006 I bought a '06 Porsche Boxster. Great car, fun to drive, expensive to service. In 2012 I bought a new Audi S4. Again great car, too civilized for my taste, didn't care for the "automated manual" transmission, heavy in the corners. In 2016 I bought this GT Premium. It is powerful, a blast to drive - especially since I only have the performance options -, and it's inexpensive to keep. I won't bad mouth the other cars but I will say I like the mustang better than the Audi S4 just based on performance and handling alone.
